Sorry for asking you such a 'silly' question, but like seriously, what else, apart from love, does your partner offer you in the relationship? Love alone does not guarantee a successful relationship. There is an adage that 'no one ever marries his enemy'. It's so true but as a counselor, I have seen some husbands beat their wives, some wives cheat on their husbands, lovers divorce, partners abuse each other, etc. Was there no love when they first met? There was, but what changed?

If the only thing your partner gives you in the relationship is love and nothing else, quit! Yes quit! It may sound harsh but quit and avail yourself for a more meaningful relationship before it's too late. After some years of marriage, you'll realise that what will keep the marriage going is not love alone, that's when partners who don't have any valuable thing to offer will begin to pick unnecessary quarrels, nag, stay out late, cheat, etc.

Long-lasting relationships thrive on the PRINCIPLE OF GIVING. Yes, even God couldn't show love without giving. "For God so LOVED the world, that's why He GAVE his only begotten son..." (John 3:16). If you so love someone, it's incumbent on you to give. Give your partner your time, love, attention, gifts, money, etc.

If your partner is stingy, makes you feel he's always busy, doesn't call/text/whatsapp you, doesn't take you to his house, doesn't buy you gifts, doesn't give you attention, hangs out with friends more than with you, always selfish and talks about his/her personal interest, etc it is a clear indication that he/she doesn't love you. Move on!

Never fall for people who only profess their love for you through word of mouth. Action speaks louder than words. Observe your partner carefully, wake up one dawn and think about the things he/she does for you in the relationship. Don't take it for granted. This is the person you'll spend the rest of your life with, get to know him/her through and through.
