Why do I say some jobs will collapse by 15 years time?
Take for example the work of a Teller in a bank. Right now, by virtue of Mobile Money, people are able to deposit and withdraw from their bank account in the comfort of the homes. Most banks have already migrated unto this smart transaction waiting for it's operation in a few years time. If all banks move unto it, people will withdraw and deposit into their account through their phones, hence, there will be no need for a third party like a teller. To check the banks on this e-platform, dial *170#, pick option #8 and pick option #1, the list of the banks will appear (this applies to MTN Mobile Money, Ghana). Other networks have similar packages. A teller's job will be irrelevant very soon.
As a counselor with research interest in media discourse, I know newspapers will be redundant in a very few years time. Newspapers normally report 'dead' news or events that have passed. What will be the relevance of a 'dead' news to the 21st century IT oriented generation that can get live updates of events via facebook, twitter, skype, television, radio, news portals, etc? When was the last time you bought a news paper? But you always read news items on the internet right? Yh, that's bringing down newspaper companies.
Let's do some mathematics here. There are 872 SHS in Ghana, 576 public and 296 private. Last year, 460,941 students completed JHS, 424, 092 (92%) were posted to various public SHS under free SHS leaving 36,849 unposted to be absorbed by the 296 private schools. Lets assume 6, 849 will not further but will learn some trade. It's left with 30,000 students for the private schools. Each private school on average will get 101 students. Can you run a whole SHS will just 101 students? Impossible. I'll advise you to build a basic school, a remedial school or even a University. These are educational projects that have future prospects.
Don't just go into any business because you have money. Do all the necessary background study, ask all the necessary questions, consult the right people and pursue the right courses. Success begins from choice-making, make the right choice and enjoy life.
