_I'm Ama, a UCC Distance Education student. Counselor Fenyi, I fear I'll complete and won't get a job to do like most of my seniors. I feel am wasting my time and money. I want to quit and pursue something else Sir?_

*Counselor FENYI:* These are some raw facts;

Distance Education is more appropriate for already employed workers who wish to upgrade themselves without quitting their jobs. It's not really meant for direct SHS graduates who'll complete and search for new jobs.

Like private universities and polytechnics, generally, Distance Education doesn't have the "respect" of many employers. Many perceive that students who fail WASSCE enrol for Distance education, polytechnic and private universities.

However, about 80% of all tertiary students in Ghana, both public and private, regular and distance, go through the same feeling of uncertainty. Unemployment is a general problem in Ghana. Many Legon, KNUST, UEW, UCC, etc graduates are in the house unemployed so it's not only a Distance education problem.

The truth is, "no form of education" is a waste of time and money. There's no need to stop the course to pursue something else. You can do the the two at the same time. Life has many twists and turns so different learning experiences, skills and certificates can increase your chances of succeeding in life.
